About GOD: We believe in…
… one true God, existing in the form of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of all things visible and invisible. (Genesis 1:1-2; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 5:16; 6:1-9; Acts 17:24-28; Hebrews 11:3).
About JESUS CHRIST: We believe that Jesus Christ,..
… is God’s only begotten Son, our Savior (John 1:14; I John 4:9; John 3:16; 2 Peter 3:18), conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit by the virgin Mary, fully human and fully Divine, raised in Nazareth. (Matthew 1:18; 21:11; Luke 1:26-38; John 1:14; John 19:19; Romans 5:15-17; Colossians 2:9; and John 1:1.)
… and that He lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; I Peter 2:2), was crucified for our sins (Luke 23:1-46), was buried and rose again the third day as foretold in Scriptures and ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of God and rule forever, (Luke 23:44- 24:8; John 20:24-29; I Corinthians 15:3-8; Luke 22:69; Acts 1:1-9; Colossians 3:1.)
… and that He is King of kings, and Lord or lords, and one day will return as Judge, (John 14:1-6; Acts 1:10-11; Acts 10:39-42.)
About the HOLY SPIRIT: We believe the Holy Spirit,
… is the active presence of God in the world who dwells in every Christian, (Matthew 28:19; John 16:5-15; Acts 1:7-8; 2:38-39; Romans 8:26-27; I Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; 12:13 and 2 Timothy 1:14.), and empowers Christians for works of service (Romans 12:4-8; I Corinthians 12:4-11.)
… and that He empowers Christians to live and grow in grace and a Christ-like life, (Galatians 5:16-25).
About the HOLY BIBLE: We believe that the Bible,
… is God’s Holy Word, without error or contradiction and is inspired by the Holy spirit of God, (Mark 12:36; John 14:26; 16:12-15;Acts 1:16;I Corinthians 2:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:14-16 & 2 Peter 1:20-21.)
… is the final authority for all matters of faith and practice, and realize that is it profitable for teaching, correction, instruction and the equipping of the saints, (Isaiah 40:6-8; Matthew 5:18; 24:35; Romans 15:4;2 Corinthians 4:6; Hebrews 4:12; and 2 John 9
… teaches that mankind was created by God, and that mankind willfully sinned against God, and as a result is lost, without hope apart from the saving blood of Jesus Christ, (Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23.)
About our SALVATION: We believe,
… salvation and the forgiveness of sins is by grace from God through faith in His Son Jesus and made possible only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, (Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:8-9; Ephesians 2:1-10; I Peter 1:18-19 and I John 1:7.)
…the Bible teaches salvation (while not by works of merit), is received when one believes (trusts) in Jesus, repents of sin, confesses the name of Jesus as Lord, and is born again for remission of sins, and receives the gift of the Holy Spirit to dwell within, (Luke 24: 45-47; John 3:3-5; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38-39; 3:19; 4:32; Romans 5:1-2; 17:30; 2 Peter 3:9; Matthew 10:32; Romans 10:9-10; Philippians 2:11; I John 4:15; Romans 6:3-5; Galatians 3:26-28; Philippians 1:1; Colossians 2:12 and I Peter 3:21.)
About the CHURCH AND FAMILY: We believe,
… that the church is the body, bride, family, community of God in and through Jesus Christ, and that it was founded on the day of Pentecost, AD 33, in Jerusalem by the preached message of the Gospel and the power of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 16:13-16; Acts 2:14-47).
… that men and women have clearly defined roles as defined in the Scriptures, (I Corinthians 16:13-14; I Kings 2:1-3; Proverbs 12:4; 31:1-31; Titus 2:3-5; I Timothy 5:14).
… that God wonderfully creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God, (Genesis 1:26-27). Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
… that the term “marriage,” has only ONE meaning, which is the uniting of one man and one woman in a single exclusive union, as portrayed in the Scriptures, (Genesis 2:18-25).
… that God intends sexual intimacy to occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other, (I Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4).
… that God has commanded the no sexual intimacy be engaged in outside of marriage between a man and woman.
… that any form of sexual immorality (adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, use of pornography etc..) is sinful and offensive to God, (Matthew 15:18-20; Romans 1:18-32; I Corinthians 6:9-10).
… that in order to maintain the function and integrity of the Keene Church of Christ as the local body of Christ, and to provide a Biblical role model to the Keene Church of Christ members and surrounding Cheshire County, it is imperative that all persons employed by the (West) Keene Church of Chrsit in any capacity, or serve as volunteers, agree and abide by this Statement on marriage, gender, and sexuality, (Matthew 5:16; Philippians 2:14-16; I Thessalonians 5:22).
… that God offers full and free redemption based on the blood of Jesus Christ, to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and grace and forgiveness through Jesus Christ, (Acts 2:37-39; Romans 6:3-5; I Corinthians 6:9-11), and that forgiveness of sins does not mean going back and undoing or “unscrambling the eggs.” When God forgives a lost person through obedience to the Gospel, or a Christian who repents and re-commits his life to Jesus, it is a ‘from that point on’ life in Christ.
… that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity, (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful or harassing behavior or attitudes directed at any individual is wrong, and not in accord with the teaching of Scripture… Truth should always be taught in love.
About LEADERSHIP AND THE CHURCH: We believe,
… that Jesus is the Head of the church, His body, and that each born again Christian is a part of it, (Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 1:22-23; Romans 12:3-8;
I Corinthians 12:11-13).
… that the Bible teaches that elders (shepherds/bishops) are to exercise authority in serving the local body of Christians, (Acts 20:28; Philippians 1:1;
I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; I Peter 5:1ff).
About ETERNITY: We believe,
…that death seals the eternal destiny of each person.
… when Christ returns, the dead will rise, and judgment will take place. The saved will have a home in Heaven, and the wicked will have a place in Hell, (John 6:39; Romans 8:10-11; Romans 6:23; John 5:29).

About FINAL AUTHORITY FOR MATTERS OF BELIEF AND CONDUCT
This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of West Keene Church of Christ’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our church’s Elders will have final interpretive authority on the bible’s meaning and application.
